The Wish Factory News

News for June 1999

Hiddy ho there everyone! It's been a long time coming for this newsletter. Let's see, highlights include a CMW show at The Vox Central with audience appearances from TPOH's Moe Berg , members of local band PIN , Valvor Records and some unruly parents (and kids). Guitarist Nikki Servos sported leather pants and a new Les Paul. That was definitely a highlight.

Two songs from our cd The Strange and the Beautiful...But Mostly the Strange, "Us" and "Seven Second Man" were used in the new CTV series The City and another song from said cd, "The Same" turned up in a Quebec feature film called The Witness Files.

We've all been very busy, writing and recording some new songs, including everyone's new live favourite "Star" and gogo-esque "Lobotomy Girl".

Drummer Kid Carson played a show with his old band The Ugly Ducklings to a packed house at The Warehouse. Reliving the Yorkville days with bands like Mainline, Lighthouse, and Luke and the Apostles. Cool!

Singer/guitarist Annelise Noronha has been hosting some songwriter's nights at Holy Joe's, inviting her favourite writers to join the bill and play their material, sans bands. As part of Chris Tait's similar writers' night, Annelise was given the privilege of opening up for her hero, Ron Sexsmith. She also feels a big highlight of the last few months was the purchase of her big shiny red hollow- body Hagstrom. While window shopping in Songbird Music, a dear friend egged her on into the impulse buy that has led to much happiness!

David has been hiding out in his world of interactive media, finishing up The Grateful Dead Cd roms, and is about to start some Classical Kids Interactive Cd roms stuff too. He can be sighted this summer sporting his short shorts playing in Wasaga Beach at the Dard, when he's not at home with his second Mac- a fine blueberry Imac!

With the purchase of her leather pants, Nikki's world has spiralled into riding regularly on a beautiful Harley-Davidson. She also recently finished Neil Leyton's record, and has been enjoying some time off. This has led her to visit The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, where she felt they were no doubt waiting for her.

Coming up is a bill we're very excited about. The Wish Factory will take the stage at The Cameron House on Thursday June 24th, around 10:00pm, opening for our dear friend, Amanda Clemens. This will surely be a blast, as all band members of both bands are so excited to be billed together!

T-Shirts Stuff!!!!

Look forward to some new homemade iron-on-t-shirts at the next gig (just like KISS used to do). Prices will probably be around $15 a shirt, but I'm sure there will be some free ones given out to the most unruly fans.

Computer Stuff!!!!

If you'd like to be on The Wish Factory emailing/snailmail list, send your address to thewishfactory@yahoo.com.

Dog Stuff!!!!

The Wish Factory has yet another unofficial member who is loyally at all rehearsals and shows. Her name is Found'er. She's a rock'n'roll dog.

Sound Stuff!!!!

The official fifth member of the Wish Factory is Dave Clark, who dutifully has done Front-of-House sound for the band for the last year or so. Dave Clark is a really cool guy who does really cool things for a living (aside from live mixing). He's the guy who's done the live sound design for Skydome sports events (including WWF Wrestling), The Academy Awards Theatre in Hollywood, The Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, and the production systems design for The Roundabout Theatre on Broadway. He's also a bass player, which makes him "cool musician guy" too. Be sure to say hello at one of our shows. He's really nice and he doesn't bite...hardly...anymore.
